To keep your text clear and easy to read, we recommend using at least 6 pt. However, depending on the material and print method, there are a few things worth keeping in mind:
Labels and stickers: For a crisp, readable result, 8 pt or larger usually works best.
Fonts can be a little tricky — it’s not just about size. The style, weight, and color matter just as much. A clean, bold font can work well at smaller sizes, while thin or decorative fonts often need to be larger to stay readable.
Also consider contrast: low contrast between the text and background (like red on orange) can make text hard to read. Light text on a dark background can cause similar issues, and darker inks can sometimes bleed slightly into lighter colors.
Thin fonts can also lose sharpness depending on the surface. What looks crisp on a label, for example, may soften slightly when printed directly onto packaging.
Not sure? We recommend ordering a sample or a small batch first. Once you’ve found the right size, it’s easy to reorder more from us.
